Rochester, population 1000, is located on Route 100, a scenic Vermont highway. Nestled in a valley of the White River, the area is a popular tourist attraction. Thirty miles from Rutland, Rochester is equidistant from two major world class ski resorts, Sugarbush and Killington, which provide seasonal employment to area residents. Local businesses include a hardware store, independent grocery store, small retail shops, a restaurant, a marble quarry, a plywood manufacturing plant, a wooden bowl and clapboard manufacturer, computer related businesses, and small home businesses.

Center for Valley Youth (CVY)
CVY provides a safe, fun place for area youth to be with their friends and allows them the opportunity to take part in planned activities. Newsletters, announcements at school and the sign at CVY informs participants of open hours and activities that are being offered.

CVY is a non-profit, tax exempt organization funded by private donations, contributions from the towns served and, grants from the Turrell Fund.
